With the rise of social media, how has best hiring practices changed in the past few years? What do these changes mean for job seekers?

My specialty area is internal talent benchstrength and succession planning.  However, the rise of social media, including sites like GlassDoor, means that employees can move to other organizations more quickly and easily than before, so this increases the importance of having internal career discussions with employees, succession planning, and career/development planning with employees, to increase retention and potential for career growth for your employees.
